Our Founder

Mufti Shihab Uddin was born in a village called Shomemardan, in Bishwanath in the district of Sylhet located in Bangladesh in 1981. He spent his early years in Bangladesh and migrated with his family to the UK in 1986.

His journey for the pursuit of Islamic knowledge began in Bradford, at Tawakkulia Jami Masjid, where he learnt how to recite the Quran and the basics of Islam. In 1995 he enrolled into Al Jamiah Al Islamiyyah, Darul Uloom, Bolton, UK, where he spent the next seven years studying various Islamic disciplines under the guidance of many renowned scholars.

Some of the disciplines studied were: Tafseer, Hadith and Fiqh. In 2001 he graduated with distinction and formal authorisation to teach the various disciplines. Following this, he enrolled on the advanced legal specialisation course at Jamiatul Ilm Wal Huda, Darul Uloom, Blackburn, UK, which led to him qualifying as a Mufti.

His love for the Holy Quran then led him to pursue its memorisation, which he completed in 2004. Since 2005, Mufti Shihab Uddin has been teaching students from foundational years, through to the final year students who study the six most authentic Hadith books in the Alimiyyah course.

In 2015, he established Madrasah Baitul Ilm, in Bradford, UK, providing a place for students of all ages to study the Quran, Hadith and Islamic knowledge under his guidance. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mufti Shihab Uddin currently serves as the President of Tawakkulia Jami Masjid in Bradford.
